Picklists
Picklists are used throughout Trade Service Pro to control the options available in many of the dropdown lists.
An example of a picklist is the Name Prefix dropdown presented in the customer editor.
To manage Picklists, click on the Admin menu and then click on Picklists.
From the Picklist admin screen, select the picklist you want to manage from the list of picklists on the left and then edit the picklist's contents in the pane on the right.
To add a new picklist item to a picklist, click on the Add button at the bottom of the picklist items.
An inline editor for the new picklist item will be presented. Enter the text for the picklist item and then click on Add.
To edit a picklist item, click on the text of the picklist item. An inline editor will then be presented, allowing you to edit the text of the picklist item.
When a picklist item is edited, all data that already references that picklist will reflect the changes made to the text of that picklist item. For example, if you create a customer record and select Dr. as the name prefix, and then edit that picklist item to read Doctor, the existing customer record will now present Doctor.
To delete a picklist item, click on the trash can icon to the right of the picklist item.
You will then be prompted to confirm the deletion of that picklist item. Click on Delete to delete the picklist item.
If the picklist item being deleted is already referenced by a record in the system, for example, Mr. is already used on a customer record, you will receive an error message indicating such, and you will not be able to delete the picklist item. See Disable a Picklist item.
You can disable a picklist item by clicking on the eye icon to the right of the picklist item. You can enable the picklist item by clicking on toggling the eye icon again.
If a picklist item is disabled it will not be presented as an option in the picklist dropdown. For example, if you disable Mr. and edit a customer, the name prefix dropdown will no longer have Mr. as an option. An exception to this rule is that if a customer record has previously been assigned a value of Mr. for the name prefix then the Mr. option will be available in the name prefix dropdown for that customer.
