Parent & Sub Customers
If you service an apartment complex or work with a property group, Trade Service Pro can help you keep track of these complex customer relationships.
While a customer is typically the person who is both requesting service and paying for it, that may not always be the case. An example would be a resident of an apartment complex. You may want to track this customer separately from the property owner since the resident is who you will be encountering on the job site, while you still want to send the invoice to the owner.
To create a sub-customer, first follow the normal steps of creating the customer record. See Customers.
Next you must link this newly created customer to it's parent customer record. You can do this by clicking the Link to parent customer button at the top of the customer editor.
Search for the parent customer and select it. The customer editor should now show that the customer you're editing is a sub-customer of the parent you just selected. Be sure to click Save when you're done.
If you've made a mistake or need to reorganize the parent/sub-customer, it is easy to undo the connection between the two. Simply edit the sub-customer and click Unlink from Parent and after you click Save the parent/sub-customer connection will be undone.
When viewing or editing a parent customer, you can see a list of all it's related sub-customers by clicking the Sub Customers tab.
