Roles

4min

Roles allows you to create a common of set of authorizations that can be assigned to a user in order to control what they can and cannot do within Trade Service Pro.

Trade Service Pro has one built-in "Administrator" role which has access to the entire app. This role cannot be edited and there must always be at least one user who is assigned the Administrator role.

To access Roles click on the Admin menu option. Then select Roles.

Role Editor

When creating or editing a role, you can provide a name and description for that role to identify the group of authorizations assigned to it quickly. The rest of the role editor allows you finely tune what users assigned to this role will be able to do within Trade Service Pro.

Most features have four levels of access.

  • None - The user cannot access the feature.
  • View - The user can access the feature but cannot edit or delete anything.
  • View & Edit - The user can access the feature and can create and edit data but cannot delete anything.
  • View, Edit & Delete - The user has full access to the feature.

Some features are contained within others; for example, the Inventory Categories feature is part of the Inventory feature. So, to grant access to the Inventory Categories feature, the role must have at least the View permission of the Inventory feature. (see the below screenshot)

Updating an existing role will cause any user assigned to that role to be logged out of the app.

Once the role is configured to your liking you can assign it to particular users using Personnel/Users.
